Proposal for discussion for next meeting: the "12 theses to the University of the Coordination of Collective Wisdom.

As promised, we provide the text of the Blog "12 thesis to the University" proposed by the Coordination of Collective Wisdom, who took part in the conduct of anti-Gelmini protest in the capital.

The text has not yet been discussed between us, so we plan to do so during the next meeting this week. In addition, I note that this coordination has invited other groups and coordination of Italy to come to Rome to discuss during the meeting that organized February 28 and March 1 (are no refunds for participants meeting). Since this proposal is evident from one of the most important of the Italian student movement, it seems useful to determine a common position on the matter.

Appeals for international solidarity: La Scintilla supports young people and workers in general strike in Guadeloupe!

James has mentioned in his account of the meeting of Friday, February 20: those present were in favor of supporting the heroic struggle of young people from Guadeloupe and workers, on strike for higher salaries and against high prices and neo-colonial exploitation in general.

In fact, the indifference of the Italian media, the general strike continues to cripple them for more than a month the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, French overseas province. With a total disregard for the demands of the population, the French government has chosen to use the hard way and has sent more police furniture (the French police) from metropolitan France in an attempt to suppress and stifle it in blood most just struggle. With a certain effect: many injuries and also a union official who died in unknown conditions.

But the struggle continues!

Some information that explains the situation: the island is in fact controlled by the few but powerful families " Béke " (the descendants of white settlers), which owns 50% of the land used to aim almost exclusively of the export market, but also the leading retail chains and importers of goods. They are the real "Masters" of the island, and impose their rules in the local economy. Result: prices in the Caribbean are on average three times higher than those of metropolitan France, while wages are lower, and the unemployment rate is much higher (50% of young people under 25 are unemployed!). Pure graduates have almost no chance of entering the labor market, since companies do come placement of graduates from metropolitan France.

This is the basis of almost appartheid social explosion currently underway.

state repression French fear a negative outcome to the collective LKP organizing a general strike. For this they have launched a "call to international workers' solidarity and democracy " (which we publish here above), to which we have decided to respond positively showing we have our support.

So we have signed this appeal which was then sent to the newspaper Il Manifesto and Liberation, but also to our national coordination of student collectives (csp-csu) for clubs throughout Italy. In the context of a global economic crisis that the government wants to pay only for young people and workers, the collective LKP leading the hopes that the revolt in Guadeloupe Their struggle may just be the "spark" that can turn the rest of the city to extend to the rest of the continent and the world, against a future of exploitation, unemployment and insecurity.

We know this situation to Italian students:
their struggle is ours, their victory will be ours!

Meeting of February 20: some reflections

Friday, February 20 was held in the meeting of the Collective Psychology.
declared aim of the meeting was to discuss and analyze the university Wave movement that exploded in Italy between October and December last year (with particular reference to situazione triestina), e di tentare di portarne avanti la causa: la lotta alla privatizzazione dell'istruzione universitaria.

What was lacking in the movement was a democratic organization. Why organization, and why democratic? We explain these two points:
  • organization: by its very nature, the wave included several faces, belonging to different ideas and different political and administrative styles. It is clear that the only way to mediate between different positions is an organization of representative types and cooperative, whose task is to command, but to coordinate the movement at two levels: within universities and between universities. Alternatives to the organization are the interminable discussions at the meeting or dialectical impulses: the kind of speech that inflames the minds, but that does not produce anything concrete.
  • Democratic
  • : the organization must start from the bottom. The movement sprang up spontaneously, and any kind of external control is likely to put a stop to it and a bridle. The representatives of the movement must be elected by the movement itself, we do not believe that they can also be the institutional representatives of the faculties, as bearers of political interests which conflict with the nature of a spontaneous movement.

clarified that two points about the situation of the movement of the past, it seemed useful and natural groped to clarify present and future. In this context, emerged two seemingly antithetical positions. On the one hand, you might find popular support and a broad consensus, trying to bring information and ideas to people now inactive, the other one might instead concentrate on people now active and groped to continue a discourse more politically advanced and complex.

Since both of these solutions seem carriers of defects (for the first utopianism, elitism and separation from the masses for the second), we tried to synthesize dialectically.
The role of the Collective must be prepared and political vanguard at the same time must work to create conditions for the emergence of a popular movement, and finally must be able to coordinate their activities. It seems to me that these roles (but who might also be defined phases dynamics) can drain adequately the needs of the Collective: be flexible and diverse, which must adapt its efforts with those of the context in which it is located, and that its efforts do his best to change favorably the context itself.

On the practical side, those present agreed to read and analyze the document of the 12 wrote to the University of Rome, which could become a reference point for the movement. Another initiative that we have turned our attention (even with international assistance from Pierre) was the strike of workers and citizens violently suppressed in the French overseas region of Guadeloupe, to whom we express our solidarity.

Finally, to take up the theme of the discussion above, all these were considered in agreement about the collective to continue the meetings in the coming weeks, we believe that everyone should continue to "trained and informed" about the counter-reactionary government with respect to public education, so you can actually speak in a clear and comprehensive if it were a situation conducive to re-birth of a movement, and work to ensure that this situation can be created.

you at the next meeting!

NEXT GROUP MEETING

The group will meet

FRIDAY 'February 20 at 17:30

See you at the entrance of psychology at that time, in Sant'Anastasio.

There are two points to be discussed:

- we would like from the article of Micromega wave, we have proposed in our last meeting of 2008, article that is useful to discuss and refine our analysis about the dynamics of the movement last autumn, its components and its limits;
- what are the prospects for the Italian student movement?
We will take stock of the mobilization and discussions in Italy, but also looks beyond national borders, not a month goes by without that young people can be mobilized from other European countries (Spain, Germany, Ireland, Greece, and, most recently, the current year in France), and it is essential to understand through such arrangements can bring together these movements in one common struggle against privatization and cuts!
